I love how Country Rap has the opportunity to bridge cultural divides, and I feel like Hick Hop could be the rural voice as we move into the future. That’s why when Annie Angel (Thursday Nights on Hick Hop Radio) sent me a link to Drezus’ “Warpath”, I had to share this.
“Warpath” is epic. Talk about bad-ass. This is Canadian “First Nation” Country rap, and it’s one of the hardest, most real raps songs I’ve heard. The struggle is real, and Drezus isn’t going to take being held down. The dress may be different, but Drezus reminds me a lot of the kind of guys I grew up around. We respect where we came from and have no intention of taking crap from anybody.
The video, directed by Stuey Krubrick, is amazing. The camera work is great, the direction and editing are great, and it really adds to “Warpath”
