Country Rap is becoming more and more mainstream. Sure, we had Jason Aldean spitting some Colt Ford Rhymes a few years ago, but we’re seeing some heavy country rap influences coming out of Nashville these days.
Case and point is Cody Walden and Aimee Webber’s song “Wildfire”, a song that sounds like what a Butthole Surfers and Jewel Collab would sound like.
Walden, a Hinesville, Georgia native started his songwriting career at ABAC (Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College), and kept writing when he transitioned to Georgia Southern, eventually working his way into a staff writer’s position at Big Tent, a publishing company on Music Row.
Webber’s from Tampa but she’s in Nashville now pursuing her dream of becoming a star in Music City and she’s definitely got the talent. I’ll keep my ears on her career as well.
I listened to a few more songs from Walden, and he’s got a lot of traditional country songs, and they’re all good too. You can hear more of Walden’s and Webber’s music as well as a lot of new nashville talent at the Big Tent’s soundcloud.
