This is now the second Backwoods Riot event we have attended. The newest series of events is aimed at local venues across the southeast. They are now 6 stops into the tour with no sign of slowing down!
We had the pleasure of being at the first stop of the Did You Die Tour featuring Mike Busey, the Busey Beauties, Stitches and Trace Cyrus in St Petersburg, FL and we were not disappointed. While this show may not be for everyone, there was certainly a crowd at this first show that we attended. The event was hosted at a local club Menage Lounge/Main Attraction and it delivered an up close and personal performance like no other concert I have been to.
Prior to the show starting the Busey Beauties were walking the crowd taking pictures and mingling with the VIP’s, fans and other attendees. All the staff was friendly and welcoming, making it a great experience overall. There were quite a lot of party-goers that enjoyed the VIP experience of the meet and greet with the performers posing for pictures and getting autographs before the show really kicked off. Mike Busey also made himself available with his stunning entourage of ladies on the main floor posing for pictures with others that may not have gotten a VIP pass to the meet and greet. He was welcoming and friendly to all that approached him for a quick selfie or photo op.
The show opened with local artists from the area, White Gold and Big Dom performing to get the crowd ready. This was nice to see, as I understand speaking with one of the tour managers Chad, they are trying to use local talent at all of the shows on the tour. I commend him for using his tour as an opportunity for local talent to get some stage time.
When Trace Cyrus took to the stage it was quite a high energy performance! Trace took a moment during his portion of the show to interact with the fans even complementing one member of the crowd on her shirt. It was awesome to see personal interaction between the stage and the audience.
Each show Mike Busey puts on starts with the playing of our nation’s National Anthem, which immediately earned my respect, he may be crazy but he loves America! The entertaining antics of the actual show itself put it apart from all others. The beautiful ladies light up the stage dancing and creating an intoxicating energy in the club. If I had half the energy they put off I would be in good shape! I won’t give too many details of the show, only saying if you like to be entertained, laugh and get weird, you should definitely go see Mike Busey live!
The closing performer Stitches also put on an amazing show getting up close and personal with his fans and delivering an experience to remember! During one portion of his set, Stitches exited the stage to get some fan input on his song. He even handed the mic over to a fan allowing him to rap along which is not something you usually get to witness. The crowd came alive on a whole different level when he took to the floor. The performance was just as high energy as all that preceded it and certainly closed with a bang.
All in all, if the Did You Die tour is coming to a city near you, look them up! It was certainly worth my time to support a local venue and have a night of fun and entertainment. The performers were on point, the effects on stage were well put together and it was awesome to see something like this at one of my hometown clubs. Thank you Backwoods Riot for supporting local venues!
