If you’ve been reading my writing, you may remember me talking about Yelawolf’s slow and I think steady movement to sound more Hick Hop, and together with Alexander King and Jelly Roll, he goes full country on the new single “Country Side”
Jelly Roll, like most rappers with a more diverse repertoire shun the term “Hick Hop” and that’s fine. They can call it Country Rap, Redneck Rap, or outlawpaloooza for all I care, as long as they keep banging out Countrified beats with a helping dose of hard-ass rapping. You know this one’s going to not only open up the Country Rap scene to a bunch of new fans, it’s also extending the reach of Jelly Roll, Yelawolf and Alexander King’s music. Call it what you want, I don’t see how that could be a bad thing.
